Waxing vs Sugaring: Which Is Right For You?
A licensed esthetician breaks down the pros and cons of each method.
Both waxing and sugaring remove hair from the root, but the materials and technique behind them are different — and so are the results for sensitive skin.
Waxing
Warm wax adheres to the hair and the skin's surface, then is removed in the opposite direction of growth. It's fast, precise, and ideal for coarse hair. The trade-off: it can lift live skin cells along with the hair, which means more potential for irritation on reactive skin.
Sugaring
A paste of sugar, lemon, and water binds only to the hair, not living skin. It's removed in the direction of growth, which means fewer broken hairs and less surface trauma. Better for sensitive, melanated, or eczema-prone skin.
Aftercare matters more than the method
Whichever you choose, the 72-hour window after is what determines whether you walk away smooth or break out in bumps. Use the pH Balanced Feminine Wash daily, and start the Ingrown Hair Serum 24 hours post-appointment.
